Editorial Guidelines

This page explains exactly how content is made at Tech Broast, from the first idea to the published article. If you’re deciding whether to trust our advice on side hustles and making money online, the process matters more than any promise, so here it is.

What We Stand For

Tech Broast exists to give readers accurate, useful and honest guidance on earning extra income online. Money decisions carry real consequences, so we focus on information you can act on, not hype. We’d rather tell you a side hustle is slow and unglamorous than promise you something we can’t back up.

How Every Article Comes Together

Each article at Tech Broast follows the same path:

  1. Topic selection. Topics come from questions readers ask and from what people search for. We look at what someone is trying to do, such as open an Etsy shop or price a Canva template, and decide what they’d need to know.
  2. Research. We gather information from the sources described below before any writing begins.
  3. Drafting. A first draft is built around a clear purpose, with the reader’s goal as the starting point.
  4. Fact-checking. Every number, fee, date, name and claim is checked against its source.
  5. Editorial review. The draft is edited for accuracy, clarity, structure and usefulness, and anything unsupported is fixed or cut.
  6. Formatting and images. We format the article for easy scanning and use our own designs or properly licensed images, with credit where it’s required.
  7. Final review. A human editor reads the finished article one last time before it goes live.
  8. Publishing. Only then does the article go up on Tech Broast.

Research Standards

Good research starts with the people and platforms that actually know the answer. For Tech Broast, that means official documentation from the platforms we cover, such as fee pages, seller policies and help centers, along with established publications in business and e-commerce. Where we can, we also draw on hands-on experience with the tools and platforms themselves. We try to learn from what has worked and what hasn’t, and we say so when something didn’t work.

Source Verification and Quality

We check information against more than one credible source, and we prefer primary sources to secondary ones. In our niche, a credible source is typically:

  • A platform’s own official pricing, terms and policy pages
  • Government sources for tax, business and consumer-protection rules, such as the IRS and the FTC
  • Established publications with named authors and a record of accuracy
  • First-hand, documented experience

Claims we can’t verify, such as income screenshots with no context or “guaranteed” results, are left out.

How We Fact-Check

Every article is fact-checked before it’s published. The check covers:

  • Numbers and statistics, including fees, prices and percentages
  • Quoted sources and attributed claims
  • Product and platform features and specifications
  • Dates, names and anything time-sensitive, such as policy changes

Platform fees and rules change often, so we check them against the source on the day we publish.

How We Use AI Tools

Tech Broast may use AI tools to help with research and to improve the quality, clarity and readability of our articles, including grammar checks. AI isn’t used to automate publishing, and it isn’t used to turn out low-effort content. Every piece of content goes through human editorial review and fact-checking before it’s published.

Human Editorial Review

Human review is the last gate before anything goes live on Tech Broast. The lead editor reads every article for accuracy, clarity and usefulness, and nothing is published until it passes that review. Our authors also read each other’s work, so a second set of eyes catches what the first one missed. We’re a small team, and we’d rather say so than suggest a large newsroom we don’t have.

What Every Published Article Meets

Before an article goes live on Tech Broast, we check that it:

  • Has a clear purpose and answers a real reader question
  • Offers something useful, such as a practical step, an honest caveat or a real example
  • Is backed by research or direct experience
  • Has a clear structure that’s easy to scan
  • Contains accurate, current information
  • Uses useful images, with credit given where it’s required

Who Writes at Tech Broast

Our authors bring personal experience and dedicated research to every article. Nicole Hanson is the author and Andrea Bell is the co-author. Anyone who contributes to Tech Broast in the future will have relevant experience or knowledge in the topic, and their work goes through the same checks as everything else.

Editorial Independence

Our editorial content is kept separate from advertising and commercial relationships. Sponsored content, affiliate links and partnerships are always clearly disclosed, and they never decide what we recommend or what we say about a product, platform or idea.

Affiliate Links and Sponsored Content

Tech Broast may include affiliate links or sponsored content. These are always clearly marked. If we earn a commission, it comes at no extra cost to you, and it doesn’t change which tools, platforms or side hustles we recommend. You can find more detail on our Affiliate Disclosure page.

Money and Professional Advice

Because Tech Broast covers money and online income, we hold ourselves to a careful standard. Our articles are written and reviewed with that in mind, and they’re educational only. They’re not financial, legal, tax or business advice and are no substitute for a qualified professional. We don’t promise any income, and results vary widely. Please speak to a professional before making a financial decision.

How We Keep Articles Current

Tech Broast reviews evergreen articles every 6 to 12 months. Topics that change quickly, such as platform fees, policies and trends, are reviewed sooner. When we update an article, we show its last-updated date, and we remove content that’s no longer accurate.
